Kobun Roshi

Best known for telling Steve Jobs that he shouldn't feel guilty for being enmeshed in capitalism, saying something along the lines of, "Don't worry, it's like that at the monastery too," he was a real deal spiritual teacher who drowned while trying to save his five year old daughter.

Yesterday, I heard a reminiscence of this delightful exchange:

Question from some random person who'd paid to be at a workshop but probably didn't deserve to be there:

"What does it feel like to be enlightened?"

Kobun Roshi:

"Everybody brings you their garbage."
