"Jackie, is the root beer good or bad?"
"Brown."
"Yucky."
I used to live in a world where I could communicate like that.

Here's another. Someone was talking to their sister-in-law, long distance. The sister-in-law had taken the kids to the beach.
"I have to go. Dougie is standing in front of an old couple holding a rock. Dougie! Dougie!"

Today I've read Amy Fusselman, Poppy Z. Brite, an old interview with Amanda Palmer (of The Dresden Dolls), listened to Bat Segundo podcasts and opened the work-in-progress for 30 seconds before becoming disenheartened. None of this counts as writing...
