I rarely speak about U. S. politics on here "because the music that they constantly play says nothing to me about my life."
So, despite the obvious and inherent underlying controversies and hypocrisies, the U. S. now has its first Muslim elected to Congress in Kieth Ellison and its first Socialist in the Senate in Bernie Sanders (who was, of course, in the House for sixteen years and may not be the rabid poster child for smashing the state that some of us would hope for).

On a radically separate tangent, I get to go see Placebo tonight for the first time ever and I think they're dreamy!
