Cool people like Gwenda Bond, David J. Schwartz and Christopher Barzak are doing it:
Turn to page 123 in your work-in-progress. (If you haven’t gotten to page 123 yet, then turn to page 23. If you haven’t gotten there yet, then get busy and write page 23.) Count down four sentences and then instead of just the fifth sentence, give us the whole paragraph.

------------------------------------------------------------

“I have to cut myself. Don’t freak out.”
T___ jammed a slender dagger into the back of her right hand. She said that the ceremonial athame with a swerving point had been a gift from C___.
T___ asked W___, calling her L___, if she could hear that the house was starting to breathe.
“You’re scary.”
“Another deck’s hidden in the wall, a secret cabinet locked away by magick. Help me move these piles.”
Taking books as they were handed to her, W___ said, “There’s nothing there. No seams.”
T___ scraped her new gash and rubbed blood from palm to palm.
W___ gasped as a little silver key appeared between T___’s fingertips.

(current draft of page 123, names truncated because I'm feeling protective of these miserable and misbegotten kids.)
